I have a 2005 Honda Accord EX with factory navigation system. I've got a Creative Zen Vision:M MP3 player that I want to use in my car. What parts do I need for just adding an aux input to the navigation system? Nothing fancy like the iPod adapters that work with steering wheel controls, charging, and all that. I just want a simple aux input the I can plug the Zen into.
Thanks for the help! |

You can use the SNHOND3 along with the HON03-F/MM Nav bypass 'Y' cable, both currently in stock and ready to ship at Logjam Electronics.
UPDATE (09/10/09): The SNHOND3 and the AUXHOND3 have been discontinued by Soundgate, and has been replaced by the new Soundgate HONAUX4, a much improved, more fully-featured auxiliary input converter, that works in more vehicles, and does not require the purchase of any 'Y' cable to work with nav and XM equipped radios. You can also add the SoundGate CORE⢠device onto the HONAUX4, which will allow control through your factory radio of either an iPOD or a Zune |

Does this simple solution of two accessories apply to the 2004 Honda Accord w/ Nav as well? What if I have a tape player installed (underneath my Nav). It's from Honda and I control it w/ my factory system. Would that cause any problems?

The devices will work in the '04 Accord as well. However, you will need to disconnect the tape player in order to install the interface and cable.

It looks like the AUXHOND3 will work with what ever is in the car so maybe that would work for you without having to remove the tape player. Looks like it is new, just added. |

Really? what's the direct link to the product. I'd be interested in checking this out then. Logjam, can you guys verify that this is the case? I really don't want to disconnect my tape player.
What other accessories would I need with this? |

I will try to post the link, if I fail just look at the AUX page on Logjam's site and click the Honda vehicle section, it is listed there. http://www.logjamelectronics.com/soundauxhond3.html Hope it works(never done this before). |

Yes, the AUXHOND3 is a new product from Soundgate and will work in your vehicle without disconnecting the tape player. The device was added to the Logjam Electronics web site om Monday of this week.

Thanks 8balla and Logjam for the update. Would you guys mind giving me a little more advice and info? What are all the parts and tools I would need to go with the AUXHOND3 then? I don't want to do anything that would give me iPod controls on the car - I just want the wire to come out from my car that I hook into the headphones jack of an ipod to listen to. That's it.
I'm not too handy at all so I'm thinking of trying to get my Honda Dealer to pop out the Nav for me next time I go in for an update so that I can have access. |

I havn't had experience with it yet but it looks like everything you need to install a RCA input is there, if you want the specific iPod plug, or 3.5 you would probably need to get that separately.

So my wife just got a new '07 Accord Coupe w/ Nav over the weekend and sadly those don't have Aux jacks in them either for iPods. So I definitely want to do this install now for both her '07 Accord and my '04 Accord Sedan w/ Nav. In my case, as per the suggestions of this thread, I will definitely be needing this:
http://www.logjamelectronics.com/soundauxhond3.html So that I don't have to disconnect my '04 Accord's tape player. And in my wife's case, since she doesn't have a tape player, what's the best product for her? this: http://www.logjamelectronics.com/sounsnhond3.html ? - - - - The big thing that was scaring me is that I'm not tech savvy at all and as I saw over on this thread right here: http://logjam.d3datasolutions.com/forums/i...&#entry5384 It seemed that it might be smart for Nav owners to visit the dealer to get access to the back of the Nav where some necessary parts of the installation need to occur. However, I wasn't sure how feasible that was. But, recently, I found out a friend of mine has a friend who's a Honda Tech guy who would be willing to do the install for me on the side. He said he could bring the necessary tools and do the install outside where he works so that I Can see how its done too. I found two good tutorials online to show him from Ricky & Justin: Ricky: http://www.distantcreations.com/accordipod/ Justin: http://www.beaufordbuddy.com/ipod_install_1.htm ( end result: http://www.beaufordbuddy.com/ipod_install_6.htm ) I really like Ricky's setup with his iPod coming out the center console for my '04 Accord because I have a Honda Tape player under the Nav and as a result, the front cover is gone. So I would like my Aux jack to come out the center console. And I really like Justin's set up with his iPod coming out from behind the center storage area under the nav for my wife's '07 Accord because she doesn't have the tape player like me and still has the cover to that storage area. I was wondering about any thoughts on either of these tutorials. They are both geared on installs without Nav, does much change for the installs with Nav? Also, Ricky's tutorial mentions charging the iPod in the car while using the SNHOND3 using a Ground Loop isolater. If I want to do something like that, is that doable? And lastly, what are the thoughts of the tools they both recommend for the installs: o (Ricky) - Flashlight, Flathead screwdriver, Philips head screwdriver, Coat hanger, Tweezers, Needle nosed pliers, 6' gold-plated RCA-to-mini cable, Electrical tape o (Justin) - RCA to 1/8" Phono adapter cable (can be found at most electronic retailers or here - opens in new window / tab), Flat tip screwdriver, Cross tip screwdriver ("Phillips Head"), Power drill (optional, depending on how you want to route the audio cable), 11/16" spade drill bit (optional, depending on if you'll be using the drill or not), 1/2" rubber grommet (optional, depending on if a hole will be drilled or not), Electrical tape, Cable ties ("Zip ties") - - - - - Once I get this sorted out, I'm hoping to place the order for both parts today so that I can get them by Friday and hopefully get the install done this weekend. |
